By Reese Fant/Contributing Writer GPS PHOTOS by Jonathan Torres Marty Ward made quick work of taking command in the Late Model Stock main event Friday night, leading all but the first four laps, while Toby Porter made life tough on Anthony Anders, passing for second place on the last lap. "My car seemed to get tight about half way through the race, but those guys behind me got to racing each other and made my life easier," Ward said in Victory Lane. "I looked back and saw what was happening, and figured it was going to be just fine." It was Ward''s fifth victory of the season, and since the track is going to be idle for two weeks, he says he is just going to take it easy. "It's my little boy's birthday, coming up, and we are just going to take a week off and not race." With Porter in second and Anders in third, Ward was able to cut into Roger Powell's points lead. Powell's fourth-place finish allows him to keep the lead, with Ward in second place, and Michael Cherry, also near the top in points, finished fifth. Kenneth Headen took sixth, followed by John Lewis Hightower. Justin Ashley took eighth, with Bubba Horton and Grant McGinnis completing the top ten. Randy Ballew went from worst to first in the Sportsman main event, passing Tim Lollis to take the lead. Lollis finished second with early leader Bob Root in third. C.M. Knight was fourth, and Jamie Altop fifth. In the first Charger Race, Jamie Tate took the lead at the halfway lap and held the point for the victory. Mike Mote finished second, with Chad Hunter third. Keith Satterfield and Scott Pittman rounded out the top five. Zach Pressley took his third victory of the season in the second Charger race, with Tyler Stephens in second. James Johnson and Andy Norris tangled on the last lap, but finished third and fourth and Phillip Peters was fifth. In the first Renegade Race Ricky Burdett came up quickly to take the lead, then lost it for a lap to Jimmy Mullinax, but settled down to come back to the front and hold on for the victory. Mullinax held on for second, with Matt Hale third, Benny Taylor fourth and T.J. Lollis in fifth. Dale Stancil took the victory in the second Renegade race, with Terry Hawthorne in second. Travis Cox took third as Zach Meinders was forth and Jeremy Drummond fifth.
