David Roberts showed Greenville-Pickens Speedway fans what a good sponsor and boost in confidence can do for a race team Saturday night, edging out Randy Porter for victory in the Late-Model Stock main event.    

 "The only way I could win was to take his line," Roberts said in Victory Lane. "He took my line some and I took his some, and tonight I won with the double-file restart. I lost a race the same way a couple of weeks ago. I haven't liked it, much, but it seems to be here to stay so I may as well get used to it.'    

 With Roberts and Porter in the two top spots, current points leader Roger Powell took third and Michael Cherry was fourth. Anthony Anders was fifth.  

   The race within the race was seemingly won by Powell, as Marty Ward, his closes competition for the track championship, was tapped in the rear and spun just past midway in the race. Ward went to the back on the restart, but came back to eighth. This gives Powell an additional 10 points going into Championship night, scheduled for Sept. 19.    

 Randy Ballew took five laps to get by Tim Lollis, and never could get away from the pressure, but he really didn't have any problem locking up the Sportsman points title. With Ballew out front, and Lollis right behind, the two drivers put distance between their cars and the rest of the field.    

 Since Ballew had a points lead over Lollis going into the race, he now has enough of a lead to have the division title locked up Steve Hollingsworth was third. Jamie Altop took fourth and Tony Bridgeman was fifth.     

In the Charger Main Event, the apparent winner was disqualified, and Jamie Tate, who was thought to be second, was moved into the winner's circle. Andy Norris took second and Michael Mote was third. Josh Sams took fourth and Mike Mote finished fifth.    

 In the first Renegade race, Michael 'Big Top' Altop jumped out front and stayed there despite lots of pressure and took the checkered flag. Jimmy Mullinax managed to get a fender up on Percy Proctor for second place, at the line, and T.J. Lollis was fourth. Travis King took fifth.    

 Division points leader Matt Hale was running fourth when he spun out, and was not able to continue, but his lead is enough for the division title not  to be in danger.     

Terry Hawthorne said before the race he was going to be trouble, and he proved to be exactly that for the competition in the second Renegade race. Hawthorne collected his fourth victory. Dale Stancil was second, with Dale Walker third and Zach Meinders in fourth. Bobo Johnson took fifth.
