Poole & Burns tangle on white flag lap with Poole Taking the Victory

By Reese Fant Contributing Writer
The traveling United Auto Racing Association visited
Greenville-Pickens Speedway Saturday night, and Jeremy Burns lead a group of local drivers
in showing the visitors the fast way around the track, right up to the end.
The end was a tough end for Burns, who led practically every lap of
the 150 lap main.
Burns had led, with Brennan Poole staying right behind in second, and it
appeared Burns was going to take the checkered flag.
It was not to be. With just 12 laps remaining, Burns was slowed by a
lapped car, and Poole got by. That seemed to be the end, but Burns was not
having any of that. He came back to take the lead again, and was on the
point until the white flag lap, when he and Poole got together. Poole was able
to continue, while Burns spun.
Poole went on to take the checkered flag, with Anthony Anders in
second. Blair Addis took third. Kyle Grisson was fourth, Ronnie Bassett fifth,
and Burns ended up in sixth.
The second caution flag of the race waved on lap 90. On the restart, Poole
was the only driver in the top five who has not been a regular competitor
at the historic half mile.
It was Burns, Poole, Randy Porter, Anthony Anders and Blair Addis,
with Robert Johnson, the son of Hall of Fame driver Junior Johnson, running
sixth.
With two-thirds of the race completed, it was Burns, then Poole, with
Anthony Anders moving up to third. Blair Addis followed in fourth, withJohnson in front of Randy Porter, who had slipped to sixth.
In the opening Renegade race was one of the closest of the season, as
Shawn Cam;bel, Travis Cox; and Edward Ragsdale fought for all 12 laps.
Campbell and Cox both passed Ragsdale coming out of the fourth turn and
Campbell was the first car across the finish line. Larry Nabors; finished fourth
and Jackie Manley was fifth.
Susan Kimel led from start to finish in the Carolina Classics main, as Ed
Richey took second and Doug Howell was third. Wayne Hearne and Don Moore
rounded out the top five.
In the Charger main event, Andy Norris led from start to finish, with
Mike Mote in second. Ryan Dombrosky, Zach Pressley, and Danny Gilbert
rounded out the top five.
