PORTER AND POWELL STAGE A SIDE BY SIDE BATTLE, WITH PORTER GETTING THE UPHAND LATE IN THE RACE TO CLAIM WIN

By Reese Fant Contributing Writer

A pair of former champions, Randy Porter and Roger Powell, put on a side-by-side show for the first 20 laps of the Late-Model Stock main event, but once Randy Porter cleared the other car and got out front, he was never headed back. Porter, who went on to win, then praised Powell in Victory Lane. "We went side-by-side, lap after lap, and we never touched. That was great racing right there, the way racing is supposed to be."

Porter went on to say the car he put in the Winner's Circle was a racer he had had trouble with since last season. "That's the fourth complete setup on the same car," Porter said. "I think we are very close to having it just right night now.:

Porter's nephew, Trey Gibson, came up to finish second, and Jeremy Burns was third. Current points leader Kenneth Headen passed Anthony Anders on the last lap for fourth place.

The results of the Late-Model Stock race were unofficial pending post-race inspection.

Headen, who has taken the checkered flag in every Truck division race this season, came up from the middle of the field to win again. "It's a pleasure to drive this truck," Headen said. "These guys sure put a lot of time and money into this operation. They are working on it every night, and it sure is fun to drive."

Bob Root, the top qualifier, came back to second, after the first six cars were inverted. Robin Darnell took third, with Jamie Altop, the current points leader, was fourth. Guy Neely was fifth.

The car that took the checkered flag in the Charger race was disqualified for having a carburetor spacer, giving  Chuckie Greer the victory. Mike Mote was second, and Sam Staggs third. Michael Burns was fourth and Gene Burnett fifth.

First time winner Ryan Walker of Pickens took the Renegade One checkers.   Matt Hale challenged in the closing laps but settled for second.  Jamie Burton was third, Travis Long took 4th, and Robert Emory rounded out the top five.

The top two finishers in the Renegade Two feature failed a post race technical inspection, handing the win to Jeremy Drummond, his first of 2011.   Edward Ragsdale took second, Terry Hawthorne was third, and Larry Nabors came home in 4th, Bobby Butler rounded out the top five.   Kyle Ballew also jumped out early and stayed right there in the second Renegade race. Travis Cox had little trouble staying in second, with Jeremy Drummond finishing  third. Edward Ragsdale and Terry Hawthorne rounded out the top five.

Dylan Crowe had little trouble in the Street Stock main, with Furman Craft taking second. Tad Price and Freddy Hale, Jr,; were third and fourth despite being involved in a racing incident and unable to finish the race.
