Randy Porter tops GPS field

There was excitement everywhere in the Late-Model Stock main event at Greenville-Pickens Speedway Saturday night, with the Porter family right in the thick of things.

On the 31st lap, Tasha Porter Kummer and Jorge Arteaga got together on the front straightaway, and Arteaga's race car almost climbed the wall. The entire bottom of the racer was evident to the grandstand and the race was halted for cleanup and to make sure the drivers were not injured.

On lap 37, Tasha's brother, Randy Porter was battling Anthony Anders for the race lead when Anders spun violently in the fourth turn.

Porter went on to win the race and pad his track championship points lead. In Victory Lane, Porter said he had been raced unfairly for some time and he felt it was time to battle back.

Toby Porter was second, and Trey Gibson, Randy Porter's nephew who is driving for Revolution Racing this season, finished third. Will Burns was fourth and Chad Finchum was fifth.

Jamie Tate did something in the Truck division main event that has been hard to do this season. He passed points leader Kenneth Headen for the victory. Tate and Headen battled hard in the early stages of the race, and Tate said he wanted to thank Headen for a clean race. Tim Lollis was third.

James Johnson grabbed the victory in the Charger main event, as Mike Mote took second and Zach Pressley was third.

In the first Renegade Main Event, Tony Newman led from start to finish, with Kyle Ballew second. The car that appeared to finish third was disqualified, moving Jeremy Drummond to third.

Travis Cox worked hard to get by the leading car with two laps remaining in the second Renegade race, but he would have won, anyway, since the car that appeared to finish second was disqualified. Matt Hale moved into second, with Ryan Walker third.

In the Street Stock main, Furman Craft was trying hard to pass Freddie Hale, Jr., when he hit the wall. Hale went on for the win.
