Randy Porter Leads From Green To Checker

By Reese Fant Contributing Writer

Randy Porter led from start to finish in the Late-Model Stock main event at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, but his victory was anything but easy. Toby Porter dropped into second, on the opening lap, and never lost much space for the entire 40 laps. "Toby was extremely tough tonight," Randy said in Victory Lane. "He kept the pressure on me the whole race and I really didn't think I was going to be able to hold him off. But, my car was lose, and I was able to run the high groove and get a straight shot down the backstretch, while Toby was having to wait a moment. That's the hardest I have had to drive in a long time."

Toby Porter took second, and Jeremy Burns was third. Kenneth Headen was fourth, and Anthony Anders waited until late in the race to get by Will Burns for fifth place.

Kenneth Headen jumped out front in the first turn of the first lap and led the entire race in the Truck division to pad his points lead. In fact, the entire field kept their first lap position with the biggest battle being between Randy Ballew and Jamie Altop for fourth place. Ballew held the position. With Headen winning and Tim Lollis taking second, Guy Nealy was third. Then came Ballew and Jamie Altop, with Jon Martin and Michael Altop rounding out the field.

Chuckie Greer, the current point leader in the Charger  division, led from start to finish for the win to pad his points lead, as Zach Pressley came up to take second.     Rob Horton was third, with James Johnson fourth and Sam Staggs fifth.

In the Renegade Main Event, Ryan Walker jumped out front early and stayed right there through a hand full of caution flags to take the win. Eric Stokes took second, and Alex Guthrie was third, Jeremy Drummond and Jamie McAllister rounded out the top five.

Freddie Hale, Jr., returned to his winning ways in the Street Stock main, with Cody Hill in second and Furman Craft third.
